How difficult is it to set up the WiFi connection?
It is designed to be simple. Just download the "Chicken Buddy" app, plug in your feeder, and follow the in-app instructions to connect to your home WiFi network. Most users get it running in under 5-10 minutes.
What is the WiFi range? Does it need to be close to the house?
The feeder relies on your home WiFi signal. If your coop is far from the house, you might need a WiFi extender to ensure a stable connection. The app will let you know if the signal is weak during setup.
How long does the battery last on a full charge?
The built-in 5000 mAh rechargeable battery is designed to last for several weeks on a single charge, depending on how frequently you use the dispenser motor. The app will show you the current battery level so you are never caught off guard.
What happens if the power goes out or the WiFi goes down?
Don't worry. Your scheduled feeding times are saved directly on the device. If the internet goes offline, the feeder will still dispense food at the correct times. You just won't be able toremote controlit until the connection is restored.
How long will 3.5 Liters of feed last for my flock?
This depends on the size of your flock and your portion settings. For a small flock of 4-6 chickens, a full bin can easily last a week or more. It is perfect for a long weekend trip without refills.
Will the feed get stuck or clogged?
The feeder is designed for standard dry chicken feed (crumbs, pellets, or grain). It is always a good idea to check the feed quality, as very moist or powdery feed can sometimes clump. The mechanism is robust to handle typical backyard feed.
The 9 ports are great, but will the chickens learn to use it quickly?
Absolutely. Chickens are curious creatures. Once they see the food dispense a few times, they will quickly associate the feeder with mealtime. The first feeding usually does the trick!
Is it easy to clean?
