SunCoop Solar Chicken Feeder
Up to 6 custom feeding times daily
Set It and Forget It
Program each feeding slot from 0 to 20 seconds. Match portions exactly to your flock's appetite. No guesswork, no waste, just happy hens on a healthy schedule.
Three spread settings stop bullies from taking over
Every Hen Gets Their Share
Dominant birds shouldn't control dinner. Spread feed wide so shy hens finally eat in peace. Tight on space? Keep it close. You choose what works for your flock.
Up to 30 days of runtime per charge
Powered by Sunshine. Ready for Clouds
The solar panel keeps the 2200 mAh battery topped up daily. Cloudy week? Use the included wall adapter. Reliable power, rain or shine, with zero electrical work.
Tight seals keep mice out and moisture away
Fresh Feed. No Rodents
Wet feed clogs. Mice invade. SunCoop stops both. The gasketed lid and desiccant compartment keep pellets crisp, while the secure closure blocks unwanted guests.
Rain, sun, or humidity won't stop it
Built for Backyard Life
The gasketed lid and moisture barrier protect feed from the elements. A dedicated desiccant compartment keeps everything dry inside. Tough enough for year-round outdoor use.
Works with whatever your flock loves
Pellets, Crumbles, or Grains
Use standard 3–8 mm pellets for best results, or try crumbles and mixed grains. Just avoid wet feed or powdery mash that can cake and clog. Simple and flexible.
Need to Know More?
How difficult is it to set up?
It is designed to be simple. Just fill the hopper with feed, place the feeder in a sunny spot, set your feeding schedule, and let the sun do the rest. No tools or complicated wiring required.
Does it need direct sunlight, or will shade work?
The solar panel works best in direct sunlight. Partial shade will still charge the battery, but at a slower rate. For optimal performance, place it where it gets several hours of direct sun each day.
Can I use it indoors or in a covered coop?
Yes, but if it is fully covered, the solar panel won't charge. In that case, you can rely on the battery and recharge periodically using the included wall adapter.
How do I program the feeding times?
The feeder features an easy-to-use LCD display with simple buttons. Just scroll to set up to 6 feeding times and adjust each slot from 0 to 20 seconds. The display shows your settings clearly.
How long does the battery last on a full charge?
The built-in 2200 mAh battery delivers up to approximately 30 days per charge under typical usage. This depends on your feeding schedule and throw distance settings.
What happens during cloudy weather?
The battery holds enough charge for normal operation, but extended cloudy periods may reduce performance. The included wall adapter lets you charge manually whenever needed.
How do I know when the battery is low?
The LCD display shows battery status. When power gets low, you will see a warning and can recharge using the wall adapter.
How long will 20lbs last for my flock?
This depends on your flock size and feeding settings:
- For 10 hens: About 7 to 10 days
- For 6 hens: About 12 to 16 days
- For 4 hens: Up to 3 weeks
Will the feed get stuck or clog?
With proper dry feed (3–8 mm pellets), clogging is rare. The design minimizes jams, but always check feed quality. Avoid damp, sticky, or powdery feed that can cause issues.
How do the throw distances work?
You can choose from 3 throw distance modes. Short keeps pellets close together, medium spreads them wider, and long scatters them farthest. This lets you adapt to your coop space and flock dynamics.
My coop is small. Can I keep the feed contained?
Yes. Use the short throw mode and add the included cover/guard to keep pellets close and prevent them from scattering outside the feeding area.
How do chickens learn to use it?
Chickens are naturally curious. Once they hear the dispenser activate and see feed appear a few times, they will quickly associate the feeder with mealtime. The first few feedings usually do the trick.
Is it really rodent proof?
The tight-seal body and secure closure are designed to block mice and other pests from accessing the feed. No design is 100% guarantee against determined rodents, but SunCoop offers significantly better protection than open feeders or buckets.
